5 Things You Should Hide From Your Facebook Profile

One way or the other, Facebook has benefited you and with a lot of people using it these days, it’s easy to hook up with old or make new ones. Perhaps you’re not so much into social networking, Facebook can still benefit your business in a lot of ways through social marketing. Facebook is fun to use but it can also be a nightmare. Leaving your personal information lying around the internet isn’t such a good idea. With so many people sending your friend requests everyday, it’s almost impossible to know everyone on your friend list personally. Some basic things on your profile should be hidden from the public, some should not even appear on your profile at all.

1. Primary email

You primary email is the email with which you log in to Facebook and this should be hidden. The other day, someone was trying to reset my Facebook password and if this email wasn’t public, the person wouldn’t have attempted it. Hiding your primary email from your profile is one of the steps to take to safeguard your account from hackers.

If not for business, I doubt if you should make your email public with spammers all over the place. To do this, go to your timeline, then click About and scroll down to your Contact info.

If you have a few friends on your list and trust them, you can set it to friends only.

2. Home Address

There are all sorts of people on your friends list including real people you know and weirdos you won’t even like to be associated with in real life. You think it’s cool if one of them suddenly knocks on your door just because he / she got your home address from your Facebook profile? It makes no sense leaving your home address out there in the open.

3. Phone number

If you’ve been a victim of prank calls, you will never leave your phone number on Facebook. It’s alright to limit the visibility to friends only but you should do this if, and only if, all those on your friend list are people you know in real life.

If you need to have my digits, you should message me and request for it and I can give you at my own discretion. You don’t want the wrong person to have your phone number, you may end up changing it.

4. Year of birth

The less people know about you, the better. Social network is now full of identity thieves and you shouldn’t be surprised if you find an exact duplicate of your account being used by someone else. For this reason, it’s only right to show just the day and month of your birthday. The year doesn’t have to be there. You can chooose to completely hide your birthday from everyone or show the day and month only. To do this, go to your timeline, then click About and scroll down to your Basic info.

As shown above, you can either show only month and day on your timeline or simply decide to hide it from friends and public and set the visibility to Only Me.

5. IM Screen Names

You may not have to do this but I’m the type of person who loves privacy and I prefer to choose who I relate with and how I do it. That’s the only reason I like to keep my IM screen names hidden.

These recommendations are only suggestions I think should make you a much better Facebook user. Putting too much info on your profile and sharing rather too much on social networks isn’t a great idea. You just never know who’s watching…

Angry Birds Trilogy Landing On Xbox 360, PS3 And 3DS

If you thought you had seen the Angry Birds game on ever platform, think again, as its now poised to arrive on gaming console, including the Xbox 360, PS3 and Nintendo 3DS.

Angry Birds will arrive on the consoles in the form of a Triliogy that will include original Angry Birds, Angry Birds Seasons and Angry Birds Rio, and all three will support Microsoft’s Kinect, Sony’s PlayStation Move, and StreetPass

The game will include individual leader boards for each level and all three games will be supplied on one disk or cartridge, making swapping between the three less painful. Rovio’s Executive Vice President of Games Petri J√§rvilehto explained:

“There have been so many fans asking to be able to play the game on their home console with their friends and family, and so far we haven’t been able to offer anything to them,”- “Now we’re finally able to have a great high quality experience on those platforms.”

Unfortunately no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet by Rovio, but the console Angry Birds Trilogy is expected to arrive later this year just in time for the holiday season.

Battlefield 3 Matches Feature Adds Customised Competitive Multiplayer

EA has just announced that a new feature will be arriving on their Battlefield 3 game called Matches. Which will add a number of new customisations for competitive multiplayer gaming within Battlefield 3.

Battlefield 3 Matches feature will enable gamers to coordinate games for PC, PS3, and Xbox360 through the Battlelog, but you will need access to a dedicated server to be able to setup the Match.

Once gamers have access to a dedicated server, the Match host can set the Match name, start time, game mode, team size, and map rotations. EA explain in their blog post:

“Matches are completely customizable; an extensive list of settings including friendly fire, 3D spotting, squad-leader spawning, kill cam, health regeneration, a list of weapon unlocks that will be made available to players, and more can be set to exact specifications.”

Samsung And Apple Drop Additional Patent Claims Ahead Of Trial

Apple and Samsung are currently engaged in a major court case in the US, we recently saw a couple of Samsung’s product banned for sale in the US,the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the fate of both devices will be determined at the upcoming trial.
Now both Samsung and Apple have reduced their patent claims against each other ahead of the trial, this was done at the request of Judge Lucy Koh, although this is something that Judge Koh could ask for again if she feels that the two companies have not reduced the claims enough for the actual trial.

Apple dropped U.S. Patent No. 7,663,607 on a “multipoint touchscreen”. The ’607 patent would be a very powerful hardware patent, but courts tend to be skeptical of its validity, and even if they deem it valid in part, it appears that they tend to narrow its scope. Apple was only asserting one remaining claim from this patent and withdrew it (without prejudice, i.e., it may reassert it at some other point).
Apple furthermore narrows its trade dress claims. Those relate to the packaging of products. It proposes the dismissal, again without prejudice, of its trade dress allegations against the original 7.0-inch Samsung Galaxy Tab. “Apple also clarifies that it is not accusing the F700 [smartphone] of infringing Apple’s trade dress.”
After just losing an entire patent on summary judgment, Samsung didn’t want to drop another patent, but it has reduced the number of claims (from its six remaining patents-in-suit) from 15 to 9. Samsung will assert two claims each from three of its patents, and one claim from each of its other three patents.

How To Disable Facebook Timeline

Timeline is a new feature that gives a new all new look to your Facebook profile. Timeline can be considered as a moving mosaic of photos, videos and other data arranged in order of time. That means you can know what your friend posted on his wall, tracking back the information exactly back to time when the data was posted, in short you can know everything from the time your friend started using Facebook.

Now timeline received a mixed response from Fb users, some welcoming it, some feeling it as a necessary burden to carry. Many of my friends wanted their old Facebook profiles back. I have been looking for a way to do so, which brings me to this post about how to disable Timeline. You can do away with your Timeline just by following the steps below :

*Note: It is important to tell all our viewers that Facebook Timeline is a server side feature and using below methods can deactivate this for your Profile and also for others but only visible to you.

GOOGLE CHROME users follow the steps below :
